Immortals Rocks
Changyu Cave Scenic Area is located within Changyu (the world-famous
Hom- etown of Slabstone), in the northeast of Wenling, Taizhou, Zhejiang. As one of provincial scenic areas, it is the largest manual cutting grotto, winning a
Guinn- ess Record in April 1998 and honored the best project in the Guinness Records in the same year.
Changyu Cave Scenic Area, part of the
North Yandang Mountains, having an elevation
of about 150 metres, belongs to low hills.《Jiaqing

Because of
the wandering mountains, it looks like a long
and narrow island in a sea. That's why it gets
the name.The total area of the scenic area reaches
16.18 square kilometers, made up by Eight Imm-
ortals Rock, Double-Gate Cave, Chongguo Temple
and Wild Mountain Scenic Area. Among them, Eight
Immortals rock Scenic Area and Double-Gate Cave
are famous for the sight of cave groups. The groups
of caves are the remained landscape since North-South
Dynasty, having a history of more than 1500 years.
"Though it is made by people, it is like a god-given
gift." Hundreds years of cutting has acquired
several million cubes of stone material and left
28 groups with 1314 various caves.
Without
natural stalactites or stone curtains, the cutting-left
landscape like old clocks, covered pans, walls
of barrel, giant animals, has myriad variations
in appeara- nce. Some caves are isolated, some
are in series, some are terraced and some are
side-by-side, deep and grand. Inside, lofty tuff
corridors, caves with a hole in the top and dangling
bridges are zigzag and changeable, as if a rocky
labyrinth. Changyu Cave Scenic Area is assuredly
wonderful artical excelling nature without man's
consciousness and is unparalled scenery in our
country. It so perfectly merges grandness, sharpness,
unusual- ness and elegence into a whole that it
has become a unique place of interest in the Southeast
of Zhejiang.
Chongguo Temple and Wild Mountain Scenic Area
have combined humanistic sight with the natural
view. The temple, built in 326A.D, is over 1670
years old now.
The traffic of the scenic area is very convenient,
18km from Taizhou Downtown, 19km from Huangyan
Airport, 33km from, Jiaojiang Port, 60km from
the famous Yandang Mountains, 75km from Tiantai
Mountains, Every day hundreds of buses are leaving
for many different cities (e.g. Beijing, Shanghai,
Wuhan, Guangzhou etc.) along the No.104 National
Highway.
